I'm having troubles with the EIRP of my AP-105.

I noticed recently that the "reg max EIRP" had gone down from 22 or 22.5 to 17 dbm on the b/g antenna, but not all AP-105 seem affected, about 8 of 10 AP are affected. As you can here :

    MaxEIRP.png

These APs are all in the same group, same controller, and obviouly same model. What can cause this variation in the Max EIRP ?

I've also taken log from the controller with this command : show ap debug driver-log ap-name <affected AP-name here>

    With this result:

    127         0.655302 wifi0: EIRP (Config: 24.0dBm, Set: 22.0dBm, AP Max: 24.0dBm, Reg Max: 22dBm), Conducted Power Set: 18.0dBm, Gain: 4.0dBm
    128         0.744681 wifi1: EIRP (Config: 18.0dBm, Set: 17.0dBm, AP Max: 22.5dBm, Reg Max: 17dBm), Conducted Power Set: 14.5dBm, Gain: 2.5dBm
129         0.866368 wifi1: Country Code Set to CA
    130         0.887399 wifi1: Channel Set to 1 (mesh-mode: 0, state: 5)
    131         0.887453 wifi1: disabling 40Mhz

    134         1.082104 wifi1: EIRP (Config: 18.0dBm, Set: 17.0dBm, AP Max: 22.5dBm, Reg Max: 17dBm), Conducted Power Set: 14.5dBm, Gain: 2.5dBm
135         1.089760 wifi0: Country Code Set to CA
    136         1.100844 wifi0: Channel Set to 44 (mesh-mode: 0, state: 5)
    137         1.100899 wifi0: enabling 40Mhz (channel 44+)
    138         1.100947 wifi0: RADIO CONFIG DONE
    139         1.100983  FREE MEMORY 85608(kB)
    140         1.295550 wifi0: EIRP (Config: 24.0dBm, Set: 22.0dBm, AP Max: 24.0dBm, Reg Max: 22dBm), Conducted Power Set: 18.0dBm, Gain: 4.0dBm

My regulatory country code is CA, as we're in Canada.

Have anyone here see this issue ?

The regulatory maximum power varies based on the channel an access point is on as well as the "chains" on a radio. When you type "show ap active" the MAX number represents the maximum power on the channel for that model access pont.  If you notice, it is the same for channel 1 (17) for every access point, as well as for channel 6.  When bonding channels (40mhz), this is also different, but will be the same for the same channel.  For example,  channel 52+ is 24 for every AP105 and channel 100+ is 22 and so on.

I'm seeing the same behaviour as MrWind since upgrading to 6.4.2.6 from 6.3.1.5.  Our controllers that have not been upgraded from 6.3.1.5 do not show this behaviour.

All AP105's that are using channel 1 or 11 have a Max EIRP of 17.  All AP105's using channel 6 have a Max EIRP of 22+.  Using only 20MHz channels.

Can you run this command on your controler running version 6.3.1.5 :

          show ap allowed-max-EIRP ap-name <name-of-ap>

Here's a sample result on my controller running 6.4.2.5

Maybe you can compare regulatory version:

    (sw89211) #show ap regulatory

    Regulatory Version :1.0_48713

    Version 6.3.1.5:

Is this a bug?  Was there a change in the FCC rules?
