  • 1.  518 and 505 in same cluster

    I am having 5*505 AP which is added into a cluster whose virtual Controller is one of the 505 Access point.Now i want to add a new 518 AP into the same cluster.Is it possible?

    According to the AP-518 datasheet here:  https://www.arubanetworks.com/resource/aruba-518-series-ruggedized-access-points-data-sheet/ the minimum operating system version is 8.7.0.0.  As long as your cluster is running 8.7.0.0 or later., you should be able to join AP-518s to it.

    Also note that since you'll have different model APs in the same cluster, you need to ensure your AP-518 is running the exact same firmware as the existing cluster, so as colin mentioned, if your existing cluster is running earlier firmware version that 8.7.x then that needs to be upgraded to to min 8.7.x and then you need to bring up AP-518 in an isolated VLAN to ensure it is running the exact same firmware version of the cluster, if not upgrade it and then and then add it to the existing cluster.
