Hi, We have a lot of customers experiencing this issue since the last Aruba Central update a week or two back. None of our customers have utilised 6Ghz yet so we have no SSIDs with this enabled yet.

 Up until now, we have not had an issue with leaving the flexible Dual Band mode set to automatic on the AP-615's but now we do. Some APs seem to be dropping either the 2.4 or 5Ghz radios in favour of 6Ghz, even though this isn't enabled on any of the SSID's but this is effecting some of the older clients that are only 2.4Ghz compatible.

Luckily, I have managed to utilise the API's to change the flexible dual band mode in bulk for a few of our customers to set them to 2.4 and 5 GHz but this is becoming a pain. Has anybody else experienced this issue and if so, any suggestions on resolving it? I have also logged a case with TAC.

The latest I have on this is that it isn't a bug and they won't change the AirMatch as this is by design. So APs will keep steering clients to radios that aren't even enabled! TAC did send me some links for features I can vote for to be able to change the flexible dual band mode at a group level, however, the links are dead. Quite frustrating to be honest.

I have the exact same issue, we are in the middle of replacing our ExtremeNetworks WiFi with Aruba and the 615's where the ones recomended to us. I have also found that if i make a new WLAN that is only enabled on 2,4Ghz it simply does not work since the AP does not transmitt on the 2,4ghz band. The AP will only use the 5GhZ radio and shut down 2,4 and 6. How is this an intended feature from airmatch?

Also do you  have any info about the API manually setting flexible dual band? I've for about 400 AP's that have this issue, so if i can do it in bulk on a group level that would be awsome.

Hi Sugurd,

This is the same issue we have been having. What I now do is use the API to force the AP-615's Flexible Dual Band Mode to 2.4 and 5GHz. TAC recommended using wifidownunder.com which I have been doing.

I do this by using the CSV workflows option and populating a CSV with all required details, this is also handy for setting installation modes and renaming the devices etc. all in one tool so it has actually saved us a lot of time in the long run.
