Currently we are running with 20Mhz channel width on A/G radios, we have recently upgraded all our AP's in our facility to 135/225's should we enable 80Mhz channel widths?
No, it is not recommended to use 80 MHz channels.
Also, if you're mixing 11n (135) and 11ac (225) in the same area, it's recommended to disable VHT (11ac).
What is the downside to using 80MHz and 40MHz vs. just 20MHz in an environment with a decent amount of clients on APs? I understand it bonds the channels together, but what does that do to negatively affect clients?
Without using DFS, you only have two 80 mhz channels to work with, which is worse than the 2.4ghz at 3 channels. Your performance would be impacted by the cochannel intererence of having every other AP on the same 80 mhz channel bundle.
