  • 1.  Airwave - Instan GUI config - problem with VC overlaps

    Posted Jan 30, 2025 01:08 PM

    Hi community

I have seasched through documentation, but still not sure what can be an issue

I try to deploy Airwave Instant GUI config for a few remote locations. IAPs are already deployed there with similar configuration but not the same

When I added first VC to Airwave it seemed ok (I know that it is golden config), but when try to add second VC from other location some configuration seems overlaps. The effect is that some APs appear in different/wrong VC than it should and one VC apears and other disapears.

One problem is that IAPs in remote location have IP addesses from the same subnet 192.168.1.0 and sometimes VCs have the same IP addresses, I suspect that it could be the reason of my problems. Should IAPs have different subnests in different location to work all right ?

    Regards

    Hi Karol,

As you rightly pointed, the issue is with duplicate IP's. Generally IAP deployment is, with each VC cluster is its roaming domain. Having multiple VC clusters in same domain/subnet they may show up as one cluster.

    Hi Gowri

ok, but each IAP cluser is in seperate domain behind seperate router and IAPs are behind NAT,. They problem is only in Airwave.

I ask to be sure if I should change IP address schems in remote loaions to resolve problem. This is not big problem to deploy.

    Thank You

    Hi Karol,

For IAP's they don't communicate each other. so, they work independently. When they talk to AirWave with same IP, AirWave doesn't know if its from same cluster or different clusters. So is the reason for mismatch. With different IP ranges, the problem should not happen.  you can try changing the IP/subnet on a location where its duplicate and validate.

We are having a similar issue... we have a outdoor VC network & indoor at the same building it works fine as far as the VC etc. The issue is when we add the "outdoor" VC to airwave it groups it with the indoor & we tried editing it to match the indoor & it fluctuates between being the indoor & outdoor VC causing both to go down & up. I've tried manually adding the VC but it never finds it. Basically, they act as one VC & flip flop without letting us separate them. Do you know how to manually seperate them or get them to work independently?

If the AP's are in same network, there can be one VC. So, if the outdoor and Indoor are separate IAP clusters, they will show up separately in AirWave

Yes, as it was already said, VC must be in different networks, different IPs etc. and then it is ok (before that I have experienced flapping). I also had some problems when software of IAP wasn't comapitibile with Airwave version.

Sometime it is also necessary to delete and re-add VCs to Airwave.

    Best regards
