    Hi

We are looking to upgrade to the new CR 8.5.0.9 however this bug gave me pause as we are a clearpass shop. We are currently running 8.5.0.2 so seeing that this bug was introduced in 8.5.0.3, I have no exposure to it.

Symptom: Clients are unable to obtain the user role from ClearPass Policy Manager.
Scenario: This issue is observed in managed devices running ArubaOS 8.5.0.3 or later versions.

    Workaround: None.

Can someone tell me when and how this bug shows its ugly head?

We use clearpass for both EAP-PEAP, EAP-TLS and captive portal services.

    Thanks.

Are you using Downloadable User Roles (DUR)?

No, no DUR. We do however pass back user role radius attributes.

Hey root, I think the best thing I can do is advise you to open a TAC case to discuss it with someone in support. I'm finding it difficult to find the detail required to best advise - it looks like it's more related to mac-auth possibly (and non clustered MDs), but what I have is too brief.

Hope that gets you the most prompt result!

It looks like the case for this bug occurred with Mac Auth and captive portal rather than EAP. While it still might be worth double checking with TAC from what I can read about it it does not look to be related to your configuration.
