  • 1.  AOS8 support for Alcatel OAW-4550

    Hello everyone,

I am trying to get some information about the AOS8 support for the Alcatel OAW-4550 Controller Series.

Do you have any information if AOS8.6 is running on these?

    Thank you!

Hi, you can compare the Alcatel OAW models with the Aruba 7200 models, which brings the insight that the OAW-4550 is the equivalent of the Aruba 7220.

The Aruba 7220 is still supported till 2029 and can run any active supported ArubaOS version including 8.6, 8.10 or even 8.11. There are some older APs 'parked' in the 8.10 release, so these won't upgrade to 8.11.

Another point is how you should get the firmware, which probably is through Alcatel and I don't know if they still offer that as downloads, but Alcatel support may be able to provide you with the firmware.

Using Google turned up these Release Notes

    https://support.alcadis.nl/Support_files/Alcatel-Lucent/OmniAccess//OAW%20Virtual%20Appliances/OAW%20Mobility%20Controller%20VA/8.6.x/AOS-W%208.6.0.4%20Release%20Notes.pdf

The latest AOS 8.6 is 8.6.0.21, released in April.

If Alcatel-Lucent offers it, AOS 8.10.0.7 us the current Long-Term supported Release. I am assuming Alcatel Lucent follows the same support model. We are runningit on our 7220 XM, which has added memory from the original 7220.
