  • 1.  AP11D and AP11 coverage for Home

    Posted Jun 23, 2020 06:45 AM

Hi, need some advice re the expected coverage for a AP11D access point - mounted on a cabinet. Looking to install one in the downstairs part of a house that has a floor area of approx. 125 sq. metres or 1350 sq. feet. The downstairs internal walls (2) are full brick.

For the upstairs part looking to have a ceiling mounted AP11 (same area as above). Both will be powered by a TP-Link TL-SG1016PE PoE switch (I assume that this would be okay for the Aruba's?) Thanks in advance.

See attached Images. I modeled up a square space at 1250 sq ft, and showed the 11D with and without walls. The AP-11 has similar coverage, just slightly less coverage at the same power.

    Hi Dustin,

Which software did you use for the heatmap?

This was done in Ekahau Pro.

Another thing to keep in mind is the 5Ghz coverage on the AP-11D. The 5Ghz coverage is mostly directional on its elevation plane, so point the face of the AP in the direction you want it to go. See attached for 5ghz propagation
