  • 1.  Apple Bonjour and Airgroup

Is the mDNS discovery protocol for Apple products, Bonjour, compatible with Airgroup?

We have had multiple users describe a similar behaviour of their devices unable to speak to one another, via Bonjour, whilst connected to our network. Bonjour does not appear in the 'services' list when configuring the Airgroup profile on the controller. The VLANs in which this user is operating on is included within the open-flow profile bind VLAN and is not included on the 'disallow service' list. The user has noted that Bonjour works within a non-enterprise environment, so it is definitely something within our configuration which is preventing this from working.

Other Apple based discovery methods such as airplay and airprint are configured and are working well. Is Bonjour something that will be included in a future code release?

Bonjour is the Apple marketing name of mDNS. You will see services like AirPrint and AirPlay, not Bonjour.

You might find with the 'show airgroup blocked-service-id' command which services are blocked, and allow those that are related to what you are trying to allow.
