    Hi,

I have a core switch setup that needs to route incoming IPTV streams from operator specified IP in VLAN 600 to IPTV VLAN 180 that will later be used to connect TV-s.

Operator has provided an address to be used on core switch vlan interface 172.20.32.58/30 and gateway 172.20.32.57. I am able to ping vlan interface and gateway from core switch however from vlan 180 with IP 10.55.80.1 I am not able to do so.

I have also configured multicast on both VLAN's as per instructions in the documentation.

Probably missing something in the routing department.

I am attaching the configuration for review.

    I would appreciate any help.

    Thx

Does the IPTV stream supports multicast routing? In most cases the IPTV stream don't support multicast routing.

You can take a look into the IGMP proxy feature. In this case the switch is a IGMP querier and will proxy the multicast traffic. I'm not a multicast specialist but multicast routing in this case doesn't work I think

Did the service provider specifically tell you to run PIM SM?

In that case, did you form any neighborship?

    "show ip pim neighbor"?

Yes they did. Command output as requested:

    XXXXXXXXXX(config)# sh ip pim neighbor

    PIM Neighbors

IP Address VLAN Up Time (sec) Expire Time (sec)

    Okay cool,

Do you get any output with "show ip mroute"?

Again thanks for pointers you guys gave me.

I was able to get it to work.

Provider indeed does not support multicast routing. I had to add secondary IP to vlan 180 to get it to work and then setup IGMP proxy as well as PIM Dense on VLAN interface.

Now I have access to streams. We will do some testing to see how this will work once propagated throughout the network.

    Thanks
