    Hi there

My 6300m VSF Stack members are not in the same Building.
I will configure the "Split Detection".
Is it only possible to do this by MGMT RJ45 Port?
Is it possible to configure this over a separate VLAN on the Access Switches / what are the steps for doing this?

    Thanks for your help.

Hi and Thanks a lot for your reply.

I configured it on some 5400 Aruba Switches like this an it worked correctly.

But now I try to make this on an 6300m  VSF Stack and I struggle with the configuration. When I refer to this guide, there is no command to do expect: "vsf split-detect mgmt-interface"

    https://techhub.hpe.com/eginfolib/Aruba/OS-CX_10.04/5200-6790/index.html#GUID-D8A2430B-C918-4FC6-AD8D-ECCBA07EA2D2.html

But I can't find a guide how to configure the mgmt Ports for this.

Now it works. I hadto enter the command:  "vsf secondary-member 2"

Before there was a master and a member --> now there is a master and a standby and now the split detection work when they are directly connected.

Tomorrow I will try to do the split detection over a L2 VLAN on the Access switches because the 6300m are not in the same building.

I will let you know if it works as expected

I've tested it now over a L2 VLAN on the access Switches and it works as expected.

So the main thing was to set the second Switch in the stack as "vsf secondary-member 2".

    Thanks for your help.

    Kind regards

    Greetings!

In AOS-CX VSF stacks on the 6300 and 6200 switch families, split detection uses a connection between management ports on the primary and secondary members, and requires both to be connected to a common Layer 2 broadcast domain (not necessarily directly connected to each other or to a single common switch).
