    Hi All

Good day, we just upgraded our controllerr 7205 from 6.5 to 8.9, after the reboot, all of the configuration were lost (VLAN, SSID, License...etc) we tried restoring the back configuration but we are getting "invalid version" when restoring. We restored the back up to the 2nd flash and was able to restore our companies wireless service. How do we recover/restore the configuration to the 8.9 version, thanks

Configuration does not persist post v6 to v8 upgrade. Also, a backup from v6 will not restore on a v8 install.

You will have to replicate your v6 setting in v8 via cli/gui. Not all syntax is the same from v6 to v8. So this will most likely not be accomplished with a copy and paste of the backup config into the CLI.

    Hi Dustin

Thanks for the info. We are now planning to make use of the migration tool.

I had the pleasure to upgrade a v6 cluster to AOS8. TAC recommended not to use the migration tool, so I converted line by line.
Basically, I was breaking the cluster and upgraded one controller (used new IPs), so I could test with dedicated APs, if the configuration works out.
If interested, I can share details about the approach we took.

    Hi Dario

thanks for the reply, we are currently doing migration tests using the tool and found out that it has limitations, the highest you can go to from AOS 6.5 is to AOS 8.3, then we upgraded it to 8.9, but we are still doing some more test to verify the consistency of the configurations. But, if it's alright with you, would appreciate it if you could share the details with us.

Also, licenses will need to be migrated from v6 to v8 via asp.arubanetworks.com or by calling TAC.
