search for VSX configuration best practice on favorite search engine, and you 'll find a paper describing it p100.

Subject: Aruba VSX Keep Alive over upstream L3
Hi all,
I have a VSX pair with each VSX node in a separate location. The ISL is configured over internal fibre.
I currently have no Keep Alive as the only direct path between the two VSX nodes is the fibre used for the ISL.
Each VSX node has single upstream L3 BGP /30 point to point connection to a WAN router (Which I have no control over).
I was wondering if I could create a keep alive connection that would use the ISL fibre when the connection is up, but then switch to the L3 BGP connection if the internal ISL fibre connection is lost?
Or would I be better simply using a keep alive link which is simply set to use the my BGP IP addresses as source and destination? Is it that simple?
This scenario does not seem to be covered in the VSX guides...
