  • 1.  Automatic disconnection after a period of inactivity with IAP535 and 535

    Hello,

We are experiencing some minor problems following the replacement of old terminals (IAP305 and 205) by IAP534 and 535 in version 8.12.0.3.

The WiFi terminals are installed in warehouses and used by barcode scanners. When these are in standby mode for a certain period of time (and therefore don't send or receive any signals), they are disconnected from the WiFi. Agents then have to reconnect to WiFi when they need to use a scanner.

What can we do to prevent this from happening?

We've already tried setting the inactivity timeout to 24 hours without the option to de-authenticate inactive customers being ticked, but it doesn't make any difference...

Can you tell me if anyone has had the same problem?
    Thanks in advance.
    Laetitia,

Why is the scanner not automatically reconnecting to the WLAN upon wake?

If these barcode scanners are old, it could be that they don't 'like' the modern WiFi. There are options to disable the 11ax features in your AP, or other features like 11r/k/h/v that may not have been available before but are in the newer APs. Sometimes upgrading the barcode scanners is an option as well.

Warehouse deployments, and legacy/old devices can be somewhat challenging. I don't think there is a generic solution, sometimes the vendor of the barcode devices has guidance on which features to enable/disable on your WiFi, or there may even be an integration guide how to setup the WiFi optimal for their equipment. Getting a partner involved that is experienced in warehouses and equipment used there may help a lot if you don't have that experience yourself.
