    AOS 8.6.0.6

    Cluster MCx10

    Hello,

We want to move our controllers and the VLANs that our tunnelled clients get put onto onto a different range of VLAN numbers. But we have quite a few bridged VLANs and wanted to make sure what the situation would be if we configured a bridged SSID with a VLAN number that also exists on the controllers. Is anyone able to categorically say whether this is an issue or not please?

    Thank very much,

    Guy

    No.

It is more of an issue that you even use bridged SSIDs in the first place.

    Thanks, that's useful to know.

Yes, bridged SSIDs are not ideal, they have been used historically to put devices that need access to certain local resources on a particular LAN. Due to the federated nature of the university there are many LANs that are beyond our control so it has been a quick-fix for a number of years. It is something we are definitely looking to phase out over time as the capability becomes available (eg utilising some of the capabilities of ClearPass) .
