    Hi all,

I have ~800 switches that I want to add to 4 different Template Groups before they are sent out to site. How do I achieve this without searching for the serial number one by one in the 'Device Preprovisioning' page? There are thousands of other devices already online in this network so this page so I can't filter on these devices to select them in one go.

Hey Brett, for these case it is best to use Central Automation Studio

Basically CAS uses API to do various tasks. For your task, once you have added your account to CAS, Once all that is setup, you can use the Device Inventory page in CAS.

From there, restrict the search to just devices without a group (via a simple checkbox) and then filter and sort to find what they want. Then click the Move To Group button and select the group.

    Thanks Ariya,

After I posted this I played with CAS but wasn't confident in what it was doing in the backend.

I ended up writing a Python script with the help of the Central API docs and it worked flawlessly.

    Thanks Ariya,

After I posted this I played with CAS but wasn't confident in what it was doing in the backend.

Long story short, I wrote own Python script with the help of the Central API docs and it worked flawlessly.
