  • 1.  Cant factory reset Aruba 505 AP

    Posted Nov 28, 2024 06:37 AM

    Hi ,

I am currently unable to factory reset an Aruba 505 access point. I have verified that the access point is not onboarded in any Aruba Central account, yet the reset process does not complete successfully.

    Steps already taken:

    1. Attempted a hard reset using the reset button.
    2. Verified the AP is not connected to any controller or management platform.
    3. Ensured correct procedures were followed, such as holding the reset button for the recommended duration.

I don't know what possibly could be the issue.

Any troubleshooting guidance or suggestions would be appreciated.

    Thank you.

Try connecting the AP to an isolated VLAN with DHCP, no internet access.

This will ensure that there is no external service causing an issue with activation.

If you hold the reset button and apply power, the lights will flash to indicate the reset is successful.

Try resetting the access point in isolated environment where IP is getting released to it, but make sure it should not reach to internet. Wait for AP to reboot and throw default SSID of setmeup If still not then, you can take the console of the particular switch and check command "show lldp neighbour details" where you can get what exactly IP is getting released to the AP, with that ip you can take GUI of the AP in web browser.

Be sure that when use the reset button you follow the right steps

    1. power off the ap
    2. press and hold the reset button
    3. power up the ap (while still holding down the reset button)
    4. hold the reset button for aprox. 10 sec
    5. release the reset button

    Option 2:

When connection a console cable to the AP you get a notification that the AP is factory reset.

If you can connect to the CLI of the AP, type "write erase all"

    Option 3:

Connect console and interupt the boot to the apboot menu. see procedure here https://community.arubanetworks.com/discussion/tutorial-ap-boot-commands

    Hello Suneil.

I have encountered the same and performing a reset via CLI using a console cable did the trick.
