  • 1.  ClearPass 6.7 and 6.8 exceeded access count license or expired license

    I have two questions:

    - What's happen in ClearPass 6.7 when number of access license is exceeded? I read that the count is for MAC address authenticathed and If I exceed the count for 4 times in 6 month period I receive a warning. But I don't understand if the Admin is locked out of the GUI like the previous version or not. What's about the 6.8?

    - What's happen when an access license is expired? Behaviour is the same both in 6.7 and in 6.8?

    Thank you so much.

Starting from 6.7 there is no limitation anymore when the license count is exceeded.

When the license is expired I suppose that it is not possible anymore to authenticate but I'm not sure.

You are correct. There is no hard limit on lic. It’s designed for bursts of those times where you may have a influx of devices. If it happens multiple times then you can work with TAC or you local sales team to true up your lic. Just like any other software out there you do not want to violate the terms of the lic and run out of compliance.

As for subscription lic when they expire then CPPM will stop processing radius request. A perpetual lic will never stop processing requests.
