  • 1.  Clearpass Date format French PC

Does Clearpass guest provisioning and/or logon ever rely on the time format from the approver or guest users PC?   For instance if a guest uses sponsored access and the approver receives an email to approve the guests request will the PC date/time ever be used by Clearpass?  The same question for a guest logging on with a guest usernam/pwd?  I ask this because we have been having issues with this when users with French laptops configured as DD/MM/YY attempt to use the guest network.  I am wondering if all the expiration and date/time tracking for the user account and or token for approval is handled on the Clearpass system only or if the users laptop comes into play at all.   Thanks for you input.

As far as I understand ClearPass uses internally timestamps that are independent to the localization of the clients.

In the user forms, the timestamp may be localized, but most fields have a 'date picker' that prevent issues with MM/DD or DD/MM as you just select the date on a calendar. My own lab system uses YYYY-MM-DD HH:SS which should work for anyone as well, not even sure if the language changes the date format; but if it does, it should not be an issue.

Not sure what the exact issues are, so it may be useful to show that to your partner or Aruba Support to find out what is happening. I'm not aware of such issues, and for guest users accessing the network (so not operators), I can't imagine what could go/be wrong. And for operators there should not be an issue either.
