After researching the PCMCIA freezing issue and working on this damn laptop for 2 days straight I finally found something that works. This is how you solve it.
go to your Device Manager and change your PCMCIA adapter to PCI-1530 cardbus controller. You change it by right clicking and updating driver, when the wizard comes up, select the "no, not at this time" and next. Then select "Install from a list of specific location" and next. then select "don't search" and next. then a window with all the compatible drivers will come up..uncheck the "show compatible hardware" and you will get a list of other drivers. clikc on Texas Inst and find the "Texas Int PCI-1530 cardbus controller" driver....and this should work.
