    Switch: Aruba 2530 24G PoE+ (J9773A)

    Current Software: YA.16.08.0001

YA.16.08.0001 is now listed as previous release

    Current releases are:

    YA.16.07.0006, posted 31-Jul-2019

    YA.16.06.0012, posted 31-Jul-2019

    YA.16.05.0013, posted 21-Mar-2019

    YA.16.02.0028, posted 06-Nov-2019

All these look like earlier versions when compared to YA.16.08.xxxx but are obviously newer.  I cant find a matrix that compares all the versions.

Would really appreciate some help with the unintiutive version numbering and branching.  Ive spent hours unsuccessfully  searching for information on what the differences are between the 4 different current versions and why the highest numbered software is not current.

Sorry if this seems like a dopey question to others.

Hi @jingle1, apart than explaining you the difference between software branches (pattern YA.x.y.z) I note a strange thing on the HPE Network support site about J9773A available software : there is no mention about YA.16.08, YA.16.09 and YA.16.10...thus it seems quite disaligned with respect to current available YA software releases.

    Have a look on asp.arubanetworks.com.

With regards to software branches there is an old HP document (edit 25-08-2020: it can be found here) - still good - that explain what was the purpose (now I haven't the link handy but look for it on this Community and you should find at least a thread of mine discussing that)...and there are for sure various other threads on HPE Community and also on Aruba Airheads Community (Aruba is a company fully owned by HPE).

Please note this HPE Security Bulletin (HPE and Aruba L2/L3 Switches - Ripple20 Multiple Vulnerabilities).

    Thank you

I found the document showing a bit of an explination of the branches and another one of your posts with a bit more to add.  Very helpful.

There is a v16.10.0007 on the Aruba site as a tar file (mibs-Apr-2020.tar) no release notes available so a bit of a mystery update.  But its also the only software option that shows.  I can see release notes for other branches but not the software.  Possibly because I can't login.  Error during authentication. Reason: Email domain 'outlook.com' is public.

Hi @jingle1! AFAIK most of the Switch software published on asp.arubanetworks.com web site can be downloaded freely (you neither need a valid active support contract nor you need to prove to be the owner of the switch...last you don't need to be necessarily authenticated/logged in). Only software for Aruba Wireless and ArubaOS-CX OS based switch series requires a valid support contract to be downloaded.

Go to asp.arubanetworks.com, select "Software & Documents", select "Switches", narrow your research by filtering by "Software" File Type, sort by "Release Date: New to Old", select your Product Series (e.g. "Aruba 2530 Switch Series")...and you will see listed all relevant software related to your Aruba 2530. Select YA.16.10.0009 and download Release Notes and SWI Software Image. It's free. I tried using anonymous browsing (thus without my account).
