I am looking to get a pair of 8360s or 8100s for our test lab environment's core.   We have a pair of 8360 v2s in production.

The latest v2 models are coming in at a higher price than our budget.

I am looking at used HPE JL703A Aruba 8360-16Y2C - Switch which is a v1 switch.

I know v1 and v2 switches use the same firmware.  Is there an end of life set for the v1 switches?

Is the difference just due to chip shortages during COVID?   I think only the v2 will handle combining 2 ports into 50gig.

Can I get 5 years of use out of this purchase?

Here is the End of Sale Announcement for the 8360 (v1). It mentions the technology upgrades, like 50G as Smart Rate linecards.

Further it mentions that the 8360 (non v2) is no longer available to order, so unsure why you got that offered. The end-of-support date is in 2031, so you could use the v1 for another 5 years if you can live without the newer modules, and don't care about support beyond 2030. It may be good to discuss the situation with your seller and see if there is a better solution.
