how to configure redundancy between two standalone virtual Aruba mobility controllers in the datazone of a multizone configuration?

    In Aruba documentation:

Data zone now supports redundancy to avoid a long time service outage and the user can configure a backup controller or cluster for a datazone configuration. The following topologies are supported:

      • Data zone controllers are all stand-alone controllers.
      • The LMS in data zone is a stand-alone controller, and the Backup LMS is a cluster.
      • The LMS in data zone is a cluster, and Backup LMS in data zone is stand-alone.
      • Both the LMS and Backup LMS in a data zone are clusters."

How can all the Datazone controllers be all stand-alone controllers, but when configuring VRRP between two mobility controllers, multizone doesnt work because it does not support standalone master - standby redundancy

    Is high availability an option?

As I understand this, HA is not an option. You need cluster with MM or stand-alone controller.

LMS/B-LMS is the only option for redundancy in the data zone if using controllers in standalone mode.

stand-alone means that you can configure redundancy by active-standby Controller - https://www.flomain.de/2017/11/master-standby-arubaos-8/

If you want to have an HA option you have to have a dedicated Mobility Conductor for the Datazone. It has to be licensed for all DZ Controllers (which are working in a Cluster environment) and all APs connecting to the DZ Cluster - Capacity License.
The Mobility Conductor does only need one AP License (AP/PEF/RFP) per Controller for opening Config knobs. This is independend to the amount of APs connecting to the DZ.
