  • 1.  Difference between "ip igmp snoop" and "ip igmp snoop vlan 204"?!?

    Posted Jan 12, 2025 04:46 AM

    Hello all,

Got call yesterday that clien had issues with multicast streams (PTP and protocol specific streams...) and I noted weird differene while checkin igmp snooping status with "show ip igmp..." commands

Can somebody clarify what is the data difference between "show ip igmp snooping" and "show ip igmp snooping vlan 204"? (See my results from problem vlan below... L2 interface enables igmp snooping with version 2. No static subscriptions nor VSI in this device and querier in vsx core having active-gateway)

There is mention in cli manual that "sh ip igmp snooping vlan..." is about operational data so any ideas why "sh ip igmp snooping" shows group subscriptions but other command not?

(Just noted that if I disable igmp snoopig and put it back on, I'll get same information with both commands... Wondering did I found bug from 10.13.1040?)

I would expect that the same command but with a vlan (or interface, or something else) would filter the output to a specific vlan, and what you see in the full output should match what you see in the filtered output. From what I understand, after disable/enable, you can't reproduce the issue? If you find how to reproduce, please open a TAC case so they can investigate further and file a bug for this.

Okay, then it's like I thought it should be.

I did not succeed to reproduce issue after I updated cx fw from 10.13.1040 to 10.13.1070 (there seemed to be issue fixes for issues bit similar than client had in saturday) but found out issue where 3rd party switch (Yamaha brand..) having igmp querier interval of 30 secs freezes Aruba edge switches igmp snooping processing from issue vlan so that it does not recover itself before L2 interfaces igmp snooping is disabled and enabled in every edge switch involved..
