3Com SuperStack 3 Switch 4200 (2 1gig ports)



I have a ring topology. Is it possible to connect these switches using port 26/25 (gig ports) without stacking? Right now I have four switches connected in a ring using 1 10Base-T/100BaseTX port from each switch (i.e. port 2-> port 3). I want the same setup I have now, just with using the ethernet gig ports and no stacking.

Yes, you can. You just need to connect the switches as you described. By default the gigabit ports are not enable to stack.



The ring will be maintained by the STP.
