We are running some fairly large network segments at a few locations and have standardized on the Drop Broadcast and Unknown Multicast Whitelist virtual-ap option, but now have a business requirement to permit a certain type of broadcast to facilitate peer-to-peer Windows updates (specifically, 1779/udp).

Is there any way to whitelist a specific type of broadcast traffic?

There is not.  Only if it is multicast and clients subscribe to it would be allowed with "drop" enabled.
