Does your gateway have full connectivity to the internet?

Is DNS working, so if you ping device-uswest5-d2.central.arubanetworks.com from the controller do you see the IP address? Ping itself probably will not work.

What's the current firmware version on your 7005? If it's old, like if the gateway has been in a warehouse or stock for long time, you may have more success by manually upgrading to a more recent firmware, either 8.10 or direct the 10.x that you want to go to.

Does your gateway have full connectivity to the internet? Yes, It does.

Yes, dns is working, i can ping www.google.com, and yes if i ping device-uswest5-d2.central.arubanetworks.com, it does resolve the ip address but the ping fail.

Yesterday I upgraded the firmware from 8.9.x.x to 8.12.0.4, and still have the same issue.

    AOS 10 is needed.

And make sure that any firewall in place upstream of the gateway is allowing all of the necessary communications and that you don't have a proxy requirement in place.

There is a firewall but it is not blocking any traffic from the controller aruba 7005, in fact I have connected in the same vlan AP's and switches, and both of them are onboard in aruba central with no issues.

This is the first time I try to connect a controller (gateway) to aruba central, I just want to do some lab test.

I have never had any issue onboarding AP's, switch's and UXI's to aruba central.

    Thanks

You need to upgrade your 7005 to AOS10 firmware, I suggestion to go with 10.4.1.7 firmware version.
