This is a step by step guide on how to update the iLO 5 firmware on ClearPass C3010 servers without the need to contact Aruba TAC. In the documentation provided on Networking Support Portal for iLO update it's stated that the update must be run by TAC as arubasupport from shell. See https://arubanetworking.hpe.com/techdocs/ClearPass/CP-Gen10-iLO-update/Gen10-iLO-firmware-update-guide.pdf
With the process below the TAC case can be skipped.
Preparation
Download the latest iLO 5 firmware from:
https://support.hpe.com/connect/s/product?language=en_US&kmpmoid=1010145467&tab=driversAndSoftware&driversAndSoftwareSubtype=9000213
Validate the SHA checksum with the value provided on the download site.
Extract the downloaded fwpkg file with a suitable third party software. I.e. 7-zip.
Installation
Update iLO firmware by log in to the iLO management interface and navigate to Firmware & OS Software.
Click Update Firmware in the upper right corner.
Click the button Choose File and provide the extracted bin file.
In the dialogue there are a caution notice regarding TPM. This can safely be ignored for ClearPass servers as ClearPass doesn't utilize the TPM for disk encryption. This has been confirmed Aruba TAC and engineering.

Confirm the restart of the iLO after the update of the firmware.

The session will be logged out while the iLO is rebooted.
Note! Update of iLO firmware will not require a reboot of the ClearPass server, only the iLO card is restarted and this restart doesn't affect the running ClearPass server. If other firmwares than the iLO firmware is updated a reboot of the server may be required.
