    Hi,

Does anyone has used those cables instead of fiber?

    Regards.

Not on the A7500, but on A5500. DAC is still just SFPs with a fiber between but not detacheable.

Thanks Fredrik, however I forget to mention that the DAC that I have, is a copper one. And I'm worried about the performance as I read on some docs.

    Greetings.

What docs are that? Cant really see why there would be a performance hit using copper DAC. 10G is supported over copper without problem.

    Hey guys

See the Release Notes of 7500 R6701 Page 6:

"SFP+ Direct Attach Cables are not recommended for use as IRF connections because failover and recovery times are extended when this form of copper connection is use. Optical IRF connections are recommended to optimize IRF failure, recovery and convergence times."

For the the 5800 it's okay, for 7500 I use only fiber.

Alright, I can dig that. But I'm assuming we're still talking subsecond carrier delay, so I wouldnt be that against using DACs.

Yes I agree. But will you really take that risk in a core network?

Thanks guys for your kindly answers, finally we decided to configure the IRF with 2 10G fibers.
