Also, if you can afford to temporary allow access to Aruba Activate service, you can use commands:
# show activate software-update
# activate software-update check
# activate software-update update <primary|secondary>

Subject: HP ProCurve J9780A - Upload failed! Firmware image does not contain a signature
Hi there,
Apologies, I know this is not a Comware related device. The other discussion topics don't cater for cloudless managed switches that are not Comware.
I'm just trying to update one of our switches here, an 8 port PoE 2530 J9780A. It is on YB.16.11.0019. If I try and upload YB.xx.xx.0020 or .0021 I get the error "Firmware image does not contain a signature".
I read this discussion and I'm not having any luck with uploading the newer firmware. Unfortunately, I deleted the older firmware that was in the primary bank thinking it was part of the problem. So, I don't have that as get my get out of jail card anymore.
Below's what I've tried to get either of the new firmware uploaded:
The current operation of the switch is that ssh is enabled for a particular server on our network
-Enabled ip ssh filetransfer and attempted to do SFTP transfer to flash (primary bank) from a different server (copy sftp flash testsftp@ftps port 22 YB_16_11_0021.swi primary) and I get '000M Request failed'.
-Also tried appending 'allow-no-signatures' to the end of the command but this switch isn't capable of this function
-Attempted SFTP connection to the switch from aforementioned server but get error code 3 (permission denied) when trying to transfer the file either to 'os' or root folder.
The only thing I haven't tried is tftp as I'm remote to where the tftp server is and it's not connected to the domain. Purposefully done like this for security.
Is there any other way I can try and get this updated without physically going to the switch? Or are there other things I should be checking with the above methods?
Thanks for your time in reading this, any help would be appreciated.

Jay
