    Posted May 09, 2019 06:18 AM

    Hi

    I have a problem with a new HPE 5940 4 slot Switch and the SFP+ , situation:

    - a new HPE 5940 4 slot, with a JH181A module (24 port  SFP+ and 2 porta QSFP+)

    - some JD094B SFP+ transceivers

Installed and powered up the 5940, configured trough console connection fan trays, VLANS, and some others  basic function: all went fine.

Well, when I insert a JD094B SFP+ tranceiver in a SFP+ port no link or led blink, nothing; on CLI "display interface ten-gigabit n/n/n" port report the SFP+ is recognized but interface status is DOWN, here complete, whith or without multimode FO plugged):

    [HPE]display interface Ten-GigabitEthernet 1/2/24

Output: 0 output errors, - underruns, - buffer failures
    0 aborts, 0 deferred, 0 collisions, 0 late collisions
0 lost carrier, - no carrier

    [HPE]

    Other:

    - When I insert the SFP+ tranciever there is no visible laser TX output.

    - no difference with or without multimode FO plugged in the tranceiver.

it almost seems that the ttranceiver needs to be activated... or so

Any suggestions? What can I do?

    Thank's

    B.

You can review the information with the following commands:

display transceiver alarm interface ten-gigabitethernet 1/2/24
display transceiver diagnosis interface ten-gigabitethernet 1/2/24
display transceiver manuinfo interface ten-gigabitethernet 1/2/24

    Laser safety
    WARNING!
Do not stare into any fiber port when the switch has power. The laser light emitted from the optical
    fiber might hurt your eyes.

Hello, I have a JH181A mac Sec plugin module in my FF5940 2-slot and also have installed JD094B with a SMF LC connected to another JD094B in a JH181A in another FF5940 4-slot.   The link is up.  The JD092B transceivers also work.

What version of Comware do you have installed ?    You should have a Comware version R2612P02.

Rx       Tx         I downgraded my switches to R2612P01 and continue to have an UP  LR link over SMF.

-14.61 -1.35   Your Rx power is non-existent.     Have you tried a simple port-to-port cabled loopback test?

-2.44  -2.64  On my switch - with the JD094B link up.  Rx power is in the normal range.

Does any 10G link come up with a port-to-port  loopback on your module ?

It seems thet all is fine, but insn't...

@bamaskas one thing: I've noticed my HPE Comware Software version is 7.1.070, Release 2612P01 while your release is R2612P02: is this the problem?

Anyhow I'll upgrade the Comware ad report.

    Thank you all

Thank's for reply,  I'll try to check the trancievers; for laser warning, don't worry, I know the laser dangerus effects: for a very quick test I use the camera on my smartphone, a selfielaser ;-)
