    Hi,

I'm currently studying for the Aruba Security exam and have already completed the study guide. I must say, the guide isn't the most comprehensive and doesn't go into enough depth on some subjects. I have hands-on experience with CPPM, SSE, SD-WAN, Central but I haven't worked with OnGuard, Insight or WIPS before.

As an HPE employee, I was wondering if there's any lab time available that we can book to explore these products or if I manage to have my eve-NG lab, can I get evaluation licence/ subscription ? I never sit for an Aruba exam so not sure if reading guide alone is enough to be prepared for the exam

    Thanks

    Hi Armin,

You can have Clearpass as a VM hosted in your PC/Laptop with minimum requirements to setup a lab. You can download Trial Licenses from your Account for OnGuard, OnBoard, Access License and CPPM. This will help you get a testing environment for your Clearpass + on top of it you can have Aruba OS Trial licenses with AP, PEF and RFP (which you would need for WIPS)
With this setup, and trial licenses, you can generate a lab to test whatever you need for a period for 90 days (which is more than sufficient i guess).

In the regards to Insight, i haven't checked if there are trial licenses but for that you would need the hardware itself for sure. Hardware is not that expensive and it is a very cool gadget which you might find useful throughout your work.

    Hi

Insight doesn't requrie any special license. I think it's a very small part in the exam, you should know how to create reports and alarms. Maybe something more.

If you are an HPE employee you can check if you can get access to the lab environment Workbench. It was open to partners as well before, but the past few years it has been limited to SE's, I think.

In this environment, if it works as before, you can check out (almost) all resources you need to do a lab.

Otherwise, as mentiond a VM with ClearPass and eval licenses will give you the lab environment you need. I'm not sure if you can run a ClearPass VM on a PC, there have been some limitations as you need a VMWare server and not workstation to run it. I haven't had a need to dig into this as I have had servers to yse as lab environment.

thanks for the reply, by insight I meant CPDI. It would be much easier if there are ready build-up labs already on HPE training site. I found an implementing network security lab but doesn't seem to cover all the subjects in exam.
