Another thing to be aware of is that without any steps defined, IP will use the default ones and order, but when steps are defined (even if it's just one) those are the only ones IPM will consider. So if those steps are not sufficient to ensure that the AP power consumption remains below the available budget, it is possible to exceed it (which could lead to the switch power cycling the port). I would recommend to always define all applicable steps, and only focus on the priority order.

With IPM enabled but no priority steps defined, if the AP requires more power than is available then the AP will go into restricted mode and utilize those default settings. ITM is only relevant to outdoor APs, and primarily there for the AP-580.
Look through the options and come up with a list that makes sense in your environment. Just know that the CPU restrictions are probably backwards from what you'd expect, with the throttling setting the maximum usage to that amount, e.g., 25% will limit the CPU to a maximum of 25% of possible rather than reducing the CPU by 25%. Note, with IPM enabled, the likelihood of the AP ever actually implementing power reduction is relatively low when using 802.3at for power.

Hello,
AOS 8.10.0.15
I am testing IPM as we are likely to implement it (assuming there are no gotchas). I am testing with an AP-635. Without IPM enabled these show as running in power restricted mode when only supplied with POE-at (orange LED and r flag in AP database). I enabled IPM in the system profile but _didn't_ add any IPM steps. This solved the problem of these APs showing the r flag, and the orange LED is now green. But my question is what is the behaviour without any steps defined? We will also enable ITM which I believe would also use the ITM steps were there any defined. Is there a default set of steps that would be used in the absence of any configured by us? What happens if we don't define any?
Thank you,
Guy
