Does anybody know why I would get a MAC of
000000-000000 in the arp table with an IP address
i think the device is a door controller but i wanted to understand why it was doing this
Thanks
Andy
Hi Andy,
when you send traffic to an IP address and that IP address is not in the ARP table of the router it tries to discover it through ARP and temporarily puts that MAC/IP address in the ARP table. I've seen it when there is a ping sweep on a subnet, it's a normal behaviour and probably that MAC doesn't belong to any device.
