  • 1.  Joining new IAP to a Conducted IAP

    Posted Aug 02, 2023 04:25 AM

    Good Day,

I have a Conductor with a few IAP's already joined.

Installed a new IAP it gets and IP however it not joining the Conductor - I am going to assume here there is manual intervention.

    Any suggestions will be appreciated.

    Thanks & Regards

is the new IAP the same AP model as the rest of the APs in the cluster? if not then you need to bring it up in an isolated VLAN and upgrade it to the same firmware version as that of the cluster and then reconnect it to the cluster VLAN

    Thank you,

Apologies I only now realize all IAP's are joined to Central - now joining the new IAP, same procedure?

Yes, however you should add a Central subscription to your AP once it joined.

Please make sure that auto-join is enabled in addition to adding the AP in the same (native) VLAN and either same model or exact same firmware version (build number).

    Thanks again,

You probably realize by now this is my first IAP join,

If I download the Firmware for the 500 series will this apply to the 505 IAP?

Again thanks for all the advise

    Regards

    Good Day,

Thank you, managed to bring the 505 IAP to the clusters Firmware version, it joined the cluster including Central, it broadcasts the configured SSID's - however when trying to connect Windows checks network requirements, then - Can't connect to this network.

Again any suggestions will be apricated

what sort of authentication are you using? is it PSK or dot1x? what error do you see on the windows and then in Central under clients?

    Good Day,

802.1x  - the issue was the new IAP IP address was not added to the RADIUS server.

This has been done and the AP is working.

    Thanks all for the replies.

    thats great,

note that with Instant APs you can enable dynamic radius proxy and all the authentication source IP will be from the VC IP address rather than the individual APs in the cluster.
