  • 1.  LACP between HP 1950 and FortiGate Firewall part 2

    Posted Feb 10, 2025 09:17 AM

While I figured out the initial issues with getting the LACP between a FortiGate and the HP 1950 resolved, I've still got an issue that I can't figure out.  The HP side seems to want to block all connections to the secondary FortiGate, even when the secondary FortiGate is the 'active' device.  If I take the primary device and reboot him something else that makes the secondary firewall become the 'active' device, I lose all connection too him.  While looking at the FortiGate device with the secondary device 'active', it shows the LACP and ports as being "down".  If I physically unplug the cables from the primary device, the LACP comes up but as soon as I plug the cables back into the primary device, the LACP goes back down until I bring the primary device back to the 'active' state.  When the primary device is in the 'active' state, the LACP and ports on the fortinet side show 'up'.  On the HP side it shows the BAGG as "up" and the ports that run to the primary device show as "up" but the ports that run to the secondary device are 'down' (not admin down, just down).  I've set up LACP from FortiNets to Ciscos several times and never had an issue, so I'm guessing it's some kind of configuration on the HP side that I'm missing.  Any ideas?

No, I have not seen that.  It's worth giving a try.  Unfortunately it will take me a while to implement/test because I can only test on a sunday.
