Am I right in saying that LLDP-MED can be used to automatically place an IP handset into the right (voice) VLAN without having to pre-set the phone with the VLAN tagging?

If so, how do you get this working on a 2610-48?

    I have run:

    lldp run

    lldp config 5 medTlvEnable capabilities

    lldp config 5 medTlvEnable network_policy

    And it doesn't work.............

Configure the VLAN for "voice" and that should cause the switch to add the VLAN to the  LLDP-MED extension.  Also tag the port on the switch that is connected to the phone.

    (config)# vlan x voice

    That *should* be it...

I can confirm both of those have been completed (+ removing the static settings on the phone) but it doesn't seem to be working.

As I'm currently using vendor DHCP options in my data VLAN's, could this be interfering with the automatic VLAN assignment?

    Hi Brad,

If you're using Avaya IP phones  make sure that the name of the voice VLAN starts with the word Voice.
