  • 1.  Managed Device IP Address Change

    Hello,

we have a Mobility conductor with 2 Managed devices.

The customer is asking to move one Virtual MD to another datacenter, so we have to change IP address to the new subnet.

Is there a suggested procedure to change the IP address? is it better to do it from Conductor and then move the MD to the new location, or is it better to move the MD before, and then change the IP Address via console in Disaster Recovery Mode?

    Many thanks in advance

    Kindly

    Alessandro

I am getting ready to change the IP addresses of a Master-Standby pair. I worked with the Aruba reps in my area, and they verified an initial procedure to do just this. They are reviewing the final steps and I am waiting on a technical review board to allow me to change the IPs. Once I am done, I will post the procedures I followed. I am a little nervous about it as this particular wireless network is critical, so I am going to tread carefully.

Hi, a friend and myself have done this recently and after a few attemps, we decided to write erase the Manage Device (VMC), follow the wizard with the new IP shceme (and whatever else is needed in the other DC) and the change the Controller IP in the MM-Config-Controllers. We found out this was very fast and less prone to erros since the MM can send all the configuration. May be someone has a different way to do it but for us this worked very well and fast.

    I hope this helps

You can use both variants, i.e. change the IP of the MD via the Mobility Conductor or via the Disaster Recovery Mode directly on the MD.
If you change the IP via the Disaster Recovery Mode directly on the MD, you still have to change the IP on the Mobility Conductor, otherwise the MD would take over the old IP address from the Mobility Conductor at the next connection.

Remember to create a localip entry in the Mobility Conductor for the new MD IP address.

Personally, I would take the following approach:
Set up a new VMC at the new location, set it up in the Mobility Conductor, move the APs, and then delete the old VMC.

    Hi everybody,

I did the change and everything went fine.

    What I did:

    1. Shutdown the Virtual Controller and moved it to the new datacenter
    2. Create new controller entry in the conductor with the IP and PSK for the controller in the new subnet
    3. Change configuration of IP address and Default Gateway in the Managed Network configuration on the Conductor
    4. Power on the Viirtual controller
    5. enter disaster recovery mode
    6. change IP address of the VLAN and default gateway via CLI
    7. reboot

After reboot the controller successfully connected to the Conductor and all the tests went fine.

Thanks everybody for the help and support.
