We're planning on creating a secondary AOS8 wireless system due to the capacity limitations with our existing infrastructure (we're not in a position to trial AOS10/Central and we're about to breach the 10K AP limit). Therefore, we are considering deploying a VM Conductor with on premise mobility controllers to navigate our capacity requirements, as short/medium term solution. The option of using a VM is financially more appealing and the lead times for equipment may be too long to fix our problem.
On the face of it, reading the documentation available, there is not too much difference between running an on premise Conductor vs a VM Conductor. Is anyone aware of any subtle or major differences in the day to day operation e.g. Airgroup functionality etc. We have little to no experience running a Conductor or any kind of supporting infrastructure as a VM (within our immediate team) - so any input would be appreciated.
The 'separate' wireless system will effectively mirror the existing system with two clusters in two data centres, but with the exception of a VM Conductor. The sites which will terminate on the new system will be geographically separate to customers on the existing system, which will avoid roaming difficulties between the two mobility domains.
