  • 1.  Mirroring Session on Aruba 5406R

    Posted Feb 07, 2025 03:58 PM

I am sure I am simply missing a step or reading the instructions incorrectly. Here is my issue.

I have an Aruba 5406r . I want to set up a couple of monitoring sessions.  I understand I can set up 1 - 4 sessions.  I create the first session and assign an exit port.

I can then run the command "show monitor" and it appears fine. I can then assign an interface and when I run "show monitor 1" I see the Mirror Destination (exit port) and the Monitoring Source. All is good.

I then add a second session and "show monitor".

I can see session 1 is active and it has  single source. Session 2 shows inactive and no source. All is as I expect.

Here is the problem . How do I assign an interface to Session2?

If I create the new session 2 and then immediately assign an interface, it always is assigned to session 1 and its exit port.  So when I click show monitor, session 1 shows 2 sources and session 2 is still inactive with 0 sources..

I do not know what command assigns the interface to a specific session. It always defaults to session 1 and I cannot find away to get around this.

    Thanks

    Peter

Hi, have you already read the old post below?

It could shed some light about the topic (documentation apart).

That was it exactly. Thanks! I was missing the last bit about assigning it to a mirror so by default it was going to 1.
