  • 1.  Missing ethernet card (pav 4535) after reformat

    Posted Oct 19, 2002 08:41 PM
I recently reformated my pavilion 4535 and the drivers for the ethernet card were NOT included in the system restore disks. I have looked at the card itself but I can't find any stickers with the name on it. I don't know which drivers to download because I don't know what is in my computer.

It says, "PCI Ethernet Adapter" when I check for new system hardware. I've tried downloading various drivers based on other websites I've been to but I've had no luck.

Please post any responses that could help my situtation.

Doesn't sound like it is an HP card you have in there and HP doesn't show a card in their parts list. Look on the big chip(s) and report back on any names or partnumbers you see on them. That would help us ID it.

    Thanks for replying,

    The big chip says:
    MX
    MX98715AEC
    M9916
    TDTA29292001
    TAIWAN

    Another chip says:
    ATC
    93LC46
    9922

    a big silver box says:
    NTK
    XTAL OSC
    25.00oMHz
    99388j

Any idea where I can look to download drivers?

Looks like it's a Macronix NIC. There is driver file on their website:

    http://www.macronix.com

Select Communication Solution then MX987...10/100M Ethernet controller

    Dsk211.exe

Once you download the file extract it to a folder. It will create a separate folder for each OS. Then do a new hardware install and when it asks you if you have the disk say yes and point it at the appropriate subfolder.
