When you broke the cluster into two, what you really did was create two clusters with the same ID or virtual-controller-key
. Central moves Instant APs based on that key, including multiple clusters with the same key.
Breaking individual APs out of the cluster should be done with a factory reset of those APs along with moving them to another management VLAN, converting individual APs to standalone mode should also work.

Subject: Moving AOS 8.10 AP from VC to AOS10
Hello
Had a interesting experience moving a AP from a AOS 8.10 VC to AOS 10.
Current setup is 90 AP's in a AOS 8.10 VC, I need to move a few of them out of this group to repurpose them and upgrade to AOS10. (at the same location)
The name of the existing VC is RALLY
So I reconfigured one AP to another VLAN, it came up and promoted itself to new VC and named it RALLY.
Within the group in central I now have two VC's, both named RALLY.
Ok, so I chose to move the correct AP with VC to another freshly created group with AOS 10 set.
Central then suddenly starts to move ALL the APs from both groups to the new AOS 10 group.
Is this really expected behaviour or is this a bug?
