New MSM720 controller cannot discover any MSM 410 AP

I have tried with different AP (same model), but the problem it's the same.

Also adding manually the AP (from the controller) or try to provision directly from the AP, get same result

is it anything that must be enabled just to "see" the controller

    MSM720 upgraded to version 5.7.0.2-01-10750

    Thx

Is this a new install, or are the 410s also new out of the box? Have you read the manual on the different ways a AP can discover a controller?

    Any idea?

If you connect the Internet port of the controller (on the msm720 i think thats the two on the left) to the same segment as the APs they should be able to do a L2 join. If they are on different subnets you can do L3 joins by either use dhcp option 43 to supply the AP with the IP to the controller or use DNS lookup and create a A record for cnsrv1 that points to the controller.

The controller has the deafult config: ports 1-4 on vlan 1, port 5,6 on vlan 10.

An Ap is connected to port1  (just for a test)

I only change controller IP to 192.168.1.254 and leaved the AP to 192.168.1.1.

In the provisioning page, I try to use the IP and Dns, but no way

I had heard there were some issues with 5.7.0.2 and MSM410s. You might want to call HP Support.

Not sure if this helps, but if the Access points are assigned a DHCP IP address that's on a different range to the access controler then you will encounter this issue.

    1. Enable global DHCP server on the controller

    2. Set the AP to factory default settings:

        a) Press RESET and keep it down

        b) All LEDs will turn on

        c) All LEDs will turn off

        d) all LEDs will start blinking slowly

        e) On the third slow blink release Reset

    3. Connect AP directly to the controller port 1 (of course you need to power it up somehow)

    Does this work?
