Check the baud rate, data bits and parity of the serial line,

    Usually it is 9600 8 N

It is indeed the information provided by Gorazd that you must configure for console access. If it doesn't work, you can try installing these microusb drivers, in case the driver isn't working properly.

We tried many times and still no luck.

Seems the Drive just wouldn't match to the console.

I also wonder why Aruba has to make this thing too annoying to clients.

IT seems that Aruba is the only WIFI vendor asking clients to buy its console for Management !?

Why can not just use a common console to set it up!?

    Hi Rick.

You don't need a console cable to setup APs. Serial cable is usefull when you do a troubleshooting of the misbehaved AP or you need to change environment variables and AP has no access to the network.

I use console cable regulary and never had a problem with it.

If your settings match those listed below, then it is possible, that you have faulty serial cable or AP has faulty console port. Did you try with different AP?

    100% the same like yours.

Perhaps you could share what you are trying to do on the console?

If your first screenshot of PuTTY and your later screenshot showing the device is from using the same cable, you've attempted to connect to COM3 on PuTTY while the device is operating as COM8.  That's not going to ever connect.

    Ricky,

I would strongly recommend purchasing the Aruba console cable from them. It's just a lot easier because there are electronics in it and its molded into the cable header for durability. When we first started purchasing that APs that needed that cable (AP-535s), the console cable was not readily available to order. I went to an electronics / computer store and purchased the components to make my own "Franken Cable". It looks ugly, but it works well and got us through a factory software issue on the APs where they would not receive an IP address via DHCP.

    Thanks,

    Brad

@Brad; Good catch; your console cable looks different than the original cable.

The original one, at least all that I have, have a more square shape on the USB-A side:

So unsure what type of cable you have, but if it is an imitation cable, when I search online I find multiple under different names, it may be that you need different drivers or even if the cable is bad designed it may have damaged the 3.3V serial port on the AP. You may contact the seller of this cable for support.
