I am new to the forums and hope this helps someone who has been as frustraited as myself...

I bought my HP Pavilion tx 1000 from my brother about a year and a half ago, he purchased it brand new about 6 months before that.

About a year ago (just after the warrenty had ran out (typical!!)) It stopped connecting wirelessly to my wireless router.

Working from home (and being fairly lazy) I simply wired it into my router.

After reading many a tail of this issue I decided to look into my problem, here it is...

(BTW I am not massively technically minded, but do consider myself somewhat of a A+ novice)

Firstly, the wireless switch on the front of my notebook - The switch functioned (to a certain extent). If i fliped the switch it would turn the wireless on/off, or so the HP Wireless Assistant was telling me, but the Windows Mobility Center was telling me that it was turned off and the "Turn on" button was greyed out!! (Apologies if the status' were correct within the different feature - bit daft if they are!!)

Next, under "Connect to a network" I could not see any wireless networks.

Under Device Manager everything looked fine ie I could see the device, it was "Working Properly", no yellow "!" or "?"

I finally contactd HP and finally, (after being directed to the website about 10 times) I got through to someone. The nice gent told me that my Pavilion was not one of those that required a new Bios update (eh hem...) so onto the different forums to search.

After being kicked by my wife a few times for reading through forums in bed on my iphone at about 2am, I can across one that I had not tried.

(Please dont shoot me for not trying this earlier...)

    On boot up hold F10
    Mover across to "System Configuration"
Move down to "Boot Options" hit "Enter"

Within this section my "Internal Network Adapter Boot" was "Disabled", this needs to be "Enabled"

Move down to "Internal Network Adapter Boot" press "Enter"
Move cursor down to "Enabled" and hit "Enter"
    Then hit "F10"
"Save configuration changes and exit now?" will appear, hit "Enter" (as this defaults to "Yes")

My wireless now works again (after about a year!!!!!!)

Only problem is... Now I can use my computer anywhere in the house, I will probably end up watching Jeremy Kyle (UK Jerry Springer) on the couch with my laptop on my knee!!!

I really do hope that this helps someone as I know this is a big issue
