I would expect this to fail, if you've configured the VLAN in advanced then the switch is no longer considered to in factory default state.
Aruba Central allows switches to join UI groups only if the switches are running factory default configuration. Aruba Central assigns switches with factory default configuration to the default group. The administrators can either move the switch to an existing group or create a new group.

Subject: Preprovisioning AOS-S Switch to UI Group in Aruba Central
Hi
Is it possible to preprovision a AOS-S switch in Aruba Central?
I found that I can preprovision a switch to a UI group but I would like to configure the Vlan assignment of the particular switch in advanced.
If I preprovision the switch to a UI group I don't see the switch in the device list so that I can configure device specific configurations.
