Hi guys,

I want to convert two IAPs to CAPs to be managed by a controller but I had a problem. One IAP is model 305 and the other is 325, both running firmware 6.5.1.0-4.3.1.3. The controller is model 7005 running firmware 6.4.4.12. The IAPs already have some configuration. When converting the IAPs I got this message

Why do I get this error?

Is it because the IAPs firmware are higher than the controller firmware?

Hey, are you having issues with the IAP305? This requires a minimum of ArubaOS 6.5.1.0 or 8.1.0.0 on the 7005 controller. Try upgrading the 7005 to 6.5.1.0 or above first.

Thanks, I didn't check that before. While I upgrade the controller, I have a doubt. I also noticed that the datasheet says

MINIMUM OPERATING SYSTEM SOFTWARE VERSIONS

• ArubaOS 6.5.1.0, 8.1.0.0

• Aruba InstantOS 4.3.1.0

Aside from the controller firmware needed, about Aruba InstantOS 4.3.1.0 I think it means the IAP 305 needs the minimum 4.3.1.0 version, but in the support web site is not found, check this screenshot

Am I missing anything?

That's where I found the info :) So you will need to upgrade the 7005 controller as the firmware is incompatible. 

I'm also unable to see Instant OS 4.3.1.0 as well (HPE may have removed it), Instant OS 4.3.1.1 is available however and does support IAP305, so give this a try.

But I can't find InstantOS 4.3.1.1 either, in the above screenshot Instant firmwares start from 6.4.3.1 on.

After upgrading the controller to 6.5.1.0, the two APs were converted to CAP and managed by the controller. I was able to provision the 325 AP to my AP group, but I have problems to provision the 305 to the same group and I don't know why. CPSec is disabled. Look my screenshots.

Firstly both APs seem to be up

When I click on number 2 in Access Points row I get this

When I click on the 305 AP MAC address I get this

Few seconds later, I get this in Monitoring>Network Summary

If a click on number 1 in Access Points row I get this

The AP 305 is alternating between up and down and the System Status LED is always green intermittent.

Please help, I don't know how to troubleshoot this or the commands to use.

The Instant firmware version has two parts, separated by a dash (-):

Release 6.5.1.0-4.3.1.3; means based on controller version 6.5.1.0, and the Instant version is 4.3.1.3. In your screenshot, you can see the -4.3, and scroll to the right to see the full version name (or just click on it).
