  • 1.  Replacing an IAP 207 and having trouble

    Hello,

We have 10 iap-207s and one of them died. I have plugged it in and joined the setmeup network. I statically assigned it an IP address in the range of the others just like the others are setup.

When I login to the master it only shows 9 APs. The instructions say to click configuration\access points then click on the + sign, but the + sign is greyed out. When I Googled this it said to make sure that the new device has the same firmware as the rest, so I went ahead and installed 8.5.0.3 on it so that it would be the same. I am still unable to get it to show up on our master and the plus button still does not work.

When I plug it into a normal switch port I can get to it via the SetMeUp network, but when I plug it into a port that is tagged for my Wifi network like the others nothing happens and I cannot ping it or get to the SetMeUp network. AutoJoinMode is on.

I did not expect it to be this complicated. Any tips?

    Thanks,
    Drew

generally when you add the same model AP to an existing Instant cluster, assuming the new AP is on the same VLAN/subnet as that of the cluster, it will join the cluster assuming you also have "auto-join" enabled. this is enabled by default.
once it joins the cluster, it will compare its firmware with that of the master, and if it is different, it will upgrade it  and reboots.
the current cluster's untagged VLAN (native VLAN) should be the same as that of the new AP.

I did all of that, but I it created its own VC. Looks like I need to reset it and assign the IP before I plug it in.
