We have 22 switches that need updating.

                    Jun 26 2020 00:37:17
                    KB.16.10.0009
                    72
    Boot Image:     Primary

    Boot ROM Version:    KB.16.01.0006
    Active Boot ROM:     Primary

We want to update them to KB_16_11_0020.

Can this be scheduled? We dont have Aruba Central - only IMC.

There is one on 16.07.003 and the rest are a mix of 16.10.0005 and 16.10.0009.

    The models are J9850A (5406Rzl2) and J9851A(5412Rzl2)

    Thanks!

I am pretty sure that IMC supports scheduling of firmware upgrades.

You need the firmware to be added to "software Library" and then select a switch and go through the firmware upgrade workflow.

IMC user guides are available at HPE Networking support site

    Hi @rbrodhead,

Yes, you can scedule via IMC.

Also there is a simpler way to do that (not requiering use of IMC-Jobs - if you feel uncomfortable doing this).

You could also just manually connect to every Switch and write the new firmware to the inactive flash (this wouldn't do anything bad to the switch running right now).

Then with the use of a test-switch running the oldest firmware check on the CLI-command "job" to create a one-time reboot  (aka scheduler) on the new flash.

    https://support.hpe.com/techhub/eginfolib/networking/docs/switches/common/16-02/5200-1658_BOG/content/ch10s05.html

If this command was successful, deploy this command to all other switches.

Using this way, you can update all switches with a manual control, that every switch succesfully prefetched the new firmware.

Also make shure, that you update the Standby-Firmware-partition (if primary is activly in use update the secondary and vice versa) so that there is a fast way back.

    Happy Scripting ;-)

    Best Wishes

    Franz
