If there is a DHCP scope defined for the subnet where the ip helper is in, that should just work. Probably in the past you had ip helpers (dhcp relay) to the local DHCP server, if you change that to a DHCP server in a different location and make sure that the scopes are available there, it should just work. Note that if the DHCP server becomes unreachable, example because of the connection between the sites going down, there will not be any IP address assignment. But these days without internet not so much things work anymore. And if you move file and print services, the link utilization may go up significantly.

Subject: Site consolidation DHCP and VLANs (HP J9729A 2920-48G-POE+ Switches)
Hi All,
We have two remote sites.
I want to consolidate the smaller site HPE Proliant Windows Server DHCP / ADDS / DNS / File / Print roles to the larger site.
The large site also has a HPE Proliant Windows Server with DHCP / ADDS / DNS / File / Print roles installed.
Both sites have different subnets for data (vlan 10) and voice (vlan 30).
Question:
On the large site, I import the DHCP scopes.
On the small site, I set the IP helper on the Layer 2/3 Core switch to point to the ADDS/DHCP/DNS Server at the large site.
Will clients at the small site receive their correct IP leases for data and voice?
Thanks in advance.
Steve
